Going to have our first hard freeze tonight with lows in the upper 20's.

Battery on Lexus died. Doors locked. Door opens electrically, so I called a tow. He said unless I give permission to break window, he was gone. I called Lexus who had a special tech call with a secret way to open it. I jumped, no good. 3 hours later, got car started, backed out of driveway and it died. Called tow truck, towed to dealer, and got a new loaner. What a day!

Very frustrating!
While I love my 2018 jeep, I really love my 2004 TJ for its simplicity and reliability. But even my 2018 can be opened with a key.

My 2017 Fusion has a key hidden in the fob.
So does a Lexus. It is used to unlock the door. Problem is the door is electronically opened, and no battery, no open. He advised there is a hidden manual lever that pulls out from the underside of the door handle only on the driver's side. Our user manuals omit this tidbit of importance.

My driver's side door handle has a little plastic cover that comes off for the key.

As does the Lexus but again, it only unlocks the door. The hidden lever overrides the electric door opener.
I'm using my phone to spy on what they are doing at the dealer. Right now, the front windows are down and the back hatch is open. This tells me they are slow charging the battery, when I insisted I get a new battery. My battery to run the car is in the back hatch. The hybrid battery is under the entire back seat.A battery dieing with 1 year and 3000 miles should not happen. The fight continues tomorrow. I sure wish I had Scout's jeep right now.

1 year old and only 3,000 miles I don't blame you for being pissed.

Makes me leary about going on vacation. I may need to devise a way to set up a trickle charger in the back hatch. This would force me to drill holes under the body, which I sure don't want to do. Why can't they use a Perko switch, like my boat, to switch from battery #1 to battery #2, or both batteries?

Morning, im glad I drive old trucks. Heck I can't remember the last time I locked the doors let alone took the key out of the ignition.
