I always thought gout was just from drinking too much? I have a good buddy that is 38 and been an alcoholic since he was in his teens, fights gout every month or so, can't hold a job and I am pretty sure his body is shutting down but he won't believe me when I tell him. For years I tried to help him but he just doesn't care about anything so it hard, I had to throw in the rope for my own good and just watch from the outside and learn from his mistakes. Glad I don't have an addictive personality, either that or I just know I don't want to go down that path?

Gout is a form of arthritis combined with kidney problems. Purines in some proteins causes the body to produce urea. It forms bubbles in the joints and causes them to swell. To give you an idea of the pain, the woman who admitted me said that she had gout and had children. She said gout hurts worse than childbirth. The sugar and alcohol in his beer causes it in his joints.
