So today I got a letter in the mail from the county I used to have an office in. The letter is a lien tgat the county filed against my company for an unpaid unsecured property tax bill. I called them up and asked what it was for? They said that it was a tax on the personal property that my company owns, desks, computers and office supplies. And since I was not at my office when they came buy they assessed my office supplies at a 20k value and then did not ever mail me a bill. I let tgem know that the company had left California and asked what this lien was placed on? Of course it's on my personal property. When I told tgem I have no property in California they didn't know what to say. From there they just said I need to pay the bill. When I asked what the recourse was they couldn't tell me.
My question is, should I pay them the 500 bucks they want or tell tgem to screw off?
