Barrie have you run across newer cars with no dipstick for the trans? Our 2007 Nissan does not have one. Are they still doing that? A mechanic friend checked it with a dipstick that they had to buy. A universal type.
Many newer cars have sealed transmissions, with no dip sticks.

Any idea what they call that dipstick the garage used?
No I don't, we always have used a check plug on the side of the transmission.

These have a filler tube on top, but no dipstick in it, just a cap on it.
The Cadillac SRX I worked on today was the same way, cap but no dipstick.

How would you check the level?
If it's a vehicle I haven't done before I look up on the net where the check plug is.

Hi Barrie, I'm thinking of partnering with a buddy to buy 22 acres on the ocean in Oregon and split it to 10 parcels and sell 8 off to get free beach property. Only work I would have to do is build a road and pay for half the land. I only worry if it's a bad time to do it?
Where in Oregon? I have relatives near Coos Bay.
