Got my old van inspected and tagged. Nice living in a small town. Took about 30 minutes to do both and the inspection station and DMV are about 10 miles apart.

How much does the inspection cost? How often?

In Kommiefornia, we need a smog inspection every 3 years, and based on luck, some require a rolling treadmill test, where they do a study at high RPM's, and costs about $50, and takes about 20 minutes. You need the smog certificate in order to get your DMV tags. My car this year is $520, my GF's 2013 Kia Surrento just cost her $255. My 2003 Toyota runs about $198.

Oh, mornin' all

Just got back from the grocery store, I go typically go when it first opens in the morning, fewer people....
...and fewer people means 'fewer people I want to shoot'....

We may just have to stop eating.... can't believe the prices of what is there AND the amount of empty shelves!!!!!!

I thought about driving up and down the hi-way in the truck looking for fresh road-kill, but gas nearly prohibits that, also I hear that the road-kill market is pretty well dried up with everyone else out there 'shopping' !!!!!!

I'm glad I started raising my own meat a few years ago. Now if I had time to do some farming I could eat vegetables too.

Inspection is $12.50 every two years. Two year tags cost $63.00. Personal property taxes, covers all 3 vehicles and 2 trailers we own were $86.00 for the year. No emission test.

So, there is a ranch in Kingman, Arizona. Once a year, they slaughter a cow and combine all cuts of their grass fed beef into hamburger, with a 85-15 blend. It is suppose to be the best tasting beef around. They just requested orders and I purchased 2) two pounds of their beef, and a friend is hauling it back to me this week. He sells it for $8.50 a pound, so it costs me ~$37 for 4 pounds of burger. With no need for the butcher to separate the different cuts, since it is all ground into hamburger, his butcher costs are minimal, and I'm guessing he makes about $2000-$3000 profit from one, easy to distribute fridge box. Have you ever considered this Chris?

We buy from a farmer who grinds the whole beef into hamburger. It is 95-5. Costs $4.50 a lb. Would not be surprised if it goes up.

I'm guessing since they are grass fed, there is not much fat or flavor. They tried leaning it out more, but it was just dry and tasteless. This is I believe why it is 85/15 mix.

On another subject, I have been craving a good drive thru burger for months. Last Monday, I drove to a local great place, where I ordered a 1/3 pound burger, small fries and a small drink. Cost me $10.20. That's not the issue. This 1/3 pound patty was 4" in diameter, and about 1/4" thick. It looked and tasted like shoe leather. They placed this patty into a 6" diameter bun, loaded it with 1" of shredded lettuce, added a thin slice of tomato, so when I opened it, it was huge. I took 3 bites until I actually tasted beef, or whatever that shoe leather was. I feel this was more of a lettuce burger, with a small salami sized meat patty within it. I know everyone is cutting back to save pennies, but F that, never again will I go to Jim's Burgers.

There is a chain around here called Freddy's. The patties are 1/4" thick........Then my stepson Dan, the blind one, ordered $10 food for himself at McDonalds, 6 blocks from his house. Lyft charged him $15 to deliver it. So $25 for a hamburger, fries and coke. He won't do that again. I told him to just call me next time.

They opened a Freddy's not far from us, been there a couple times, food, service were really good for a fast food place. 100x better than the arch place or Steak and Shake.

No because I know what cows get ground to burger. And they sell it to unsuspecting people. And yes it still tastes better than your store beef.
