I am worried about my son and his GF in DC. They are totally stressed out, especially since they just bought a house last November. I think DOGE is going too fast and axing things that are actually important. Doge shut down the agency that helped my son get his life savings back that Chase stole from him. I still worry about Chase freezing my accounts and stealing my money because they and other banks are still doing this to innocent people. In the name of fighting fraud the banks are committing fraud. DOGE wants to shut down and or consolidate and shrink the FDIC and the OCC which are the banking oversight agencies. They are largely self funded by the banking industry to oversee that they follow regulations and to audit them. My son's gf works in the OCC and is passionate about her career and has worked really hard to get where she is. Who in their right might would think the banking industry didn't need strict oversight? My son works for a contractor in the Department of Energy in the nuclear division preventing the movement of nuclear material across borders overseas in sensitive areas. They are telling me that the cuts have hit their neighborhood hard and is totally changing it. That DOGE has called government workers lazy and is demonizing them when the vast majority are hard working and care about their careers. That every day they see people coming out of office buildings carrying boxes of their belongings. The whole city is in torment and it will likely create countless foreclosures and an economic decline there. I believe the government needs going over with a fine tooth comb at a slower pace to root out waste and fraud and cut it out with a scalpel. I don't think it needs to be axed and chopped in 2 months like it has been.

Id start with changing banks to a smaller one. I worry about my money to but I have more faith in my bank than any big box bank
