He was 13 and his hips were real bad, last two days we had to help him up at least a half dozen times the last couple days. We knew it was coming but it doesn't make it any easier. We should have his ashes back by the end of the week.

Man, I'm really sorry to hear this. I too have my 13 year old dog sitting next to me, who has a huge softball size tumor on her stomach. My dog's oncologist gave her 6 months to live 9 months ago, so the time is near. She still has no pain and I walk her twice a day, so I am postponing the inevitable.
