I think maybe you answered your own question?
If you have to slaughter a farm full of meat chickens due to bird flu, you can be up and running with new chickens ready to slaughter in maybe only 10 weeks ... whereas it takes 6 months to get eggs being laid again. The meat chicken industry has a faster recovery time.
I would think prices would still skyrocket if they have to kill off their meat birds. You got to think how many are growing at once, they are born and slaughtered daily. Say 100k or 200k a day or more. If they have to kill them it's not just today's birds but most the flock which leads to millions of dollars. And then weeks or months of no birds to butcher. They might recover quicker but I would think it would still effect pricing and availability since everything seems to anyway.

I've been in the pipe industry my whole life and just a storm makes pipe prices skyrocket due to missed production. Its amazing how any hiccup is paid for by the consumer. Big companies don't lose money, just make it up from us.

No one stocks anything anymore. Just in time delivery is now the norm so that any interruption in the entire process of creating a product will cause shortages which the manufacturer uses to increase costs.

Speaking of delivery, anyone else have Amazon no longer next day with prime? Here earliest is two business days most close to a week out. A buddy of mine that works for UPS who is contracted for half the deliveries in idaho says that the CEO of ups canceled the agreement since they dont make any money on it.

Hopefully some of Trumps stuff can bring something back to America. Reality is we as consumers need to buy less junk. Be happy with what we have. Ive realized that if I didn't have my company I wouldn't really buy much of anything. People need to keep cars 10 plus years, and not buy disposable everything.

I agree.
I'm trying to downsize my life. Smaller house means lower utility bills, lower taxes, easier to clean and maintain, etc. And also less stuff can fit into it 😆

it's a consumer driven economy though so without people buying things, within reason, it slows the economy.... Both in the manufacturing and the service industry which causes unemployment etc. Bringing manufacturing back to America would be awesome.

I'm trying to limit my purchases to things I really enjoy spending time doing... some fun items for cooking, my hobbies like mountain biking, hiking, and bird watching, and being outdoors in my yard. Most of my outdoor stuff has lasted me for years though and are still in excellent shape. My bikes are all over 10 years old, backpacks too. I just take really good care of everything.

Of the millions of people in this country, only 60 supposedly have caught bird flu. There is one death supposedly from bird flu, but there is no test to confirm it. Sounds extremely fishy to me.

I have rarely ever gotten next day delivery with Prime. It's always mostly been 2 day. Maybe it's because almost everything has to come up from phoenix?

I think it would slow the economy to point, probably a good point. I think stuff would just change, if we are not buying useless goods I bet more people would travel, vacation and purchase more services. As I get older my toys get more expensive and the only stuff I really want i have. I'd rather take a trip somewhere and spend my money on going out or seeing something. I don't need knick knacks and stuff laying around.

It's always a week or so to my house but im rural. In town is when it used to be same day or next. The Amazon warehouse is 45 minutes from my house and 20 minutes from town. It changed a week or two ago.

I am in town and they run a truck here daily, but the warehouse is about 90 miles from here.

Had some friends over for sledding and a fire. Good times.
