Telling someone "good morning" is wishing for that person to have a good morning... similar to telling someone good luck or wishing someone a merry Christmas or happy new year.
The political and national situation is crappy right now, but I am still able to smile, be happy, be nice to others, and have good days... and also wish for others to have a good morning or good afternoon etc.
